Supermicro has developed the SATA DOM as a small replacement for hard drives with sufficient capacity, extreme reliability, significantly higher performance, better latency and at the same time lower power consumption..
Reliable helper
Thanks to its optimized design, Supermicro SATA DOM does not require additional power supply, which improves performance and reliability. However, it is still backwards compatible with older server boards requiring this 5V power cable. It is designed for use as a disk boot loader, operating system installation disk, backup recovery device, license disk, OS installer (replacing CD/DVD-ROM drives), embedded system storage element (it is also suitable for very harsh environments where a hard disk drive might fail).
